    Lloyd Babbitt


    Lloyd Babbitt is the head of competitive intelligence for W.W. Grainger, Inc., the leading provider of facilities maintenance products throughout North America. He is responsible for the delivery of actionable competitive insight to Grainger's strategic leaders in order to drive the success of the enterprise. Lloyd has been with Grainger for almost five years, building the competitive intelligence function from a two-member ad hoc team to a cohesive, five-member, systematic provider of forward-looking competitive insight. 

    Lloyd has over 18 years of experience spanning strategic planning, engineering, marketing communications, and strategic marketing. He is a member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), and has presented at SCIP annual events, as well as other professional industry conferences. In 2009, Lloyd Babbitt was awarded the 2009 Certified Best Practice Award by Frost & Sullivan for successfully integrating the competitive intelligence function into the sales processes at W.W. Grainger, Inc., hard-lining CI efforts to over $500M in revenue creation.

    Prior to joining Grainger, Lloyd spent 11 years with Siemens AG in a number of roles. He built and led the business intelligence function for Siemens Building Technologies North America in Chicago, Illinois, and did the same as the head of marketing and communications of Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong, China. Lloyd is a graduate of the University of Illinois, with a bachelor degree of fine and applied arts in architectural studies, as well as a graduate of the American Graduate School of Management, with a masters degree of international management in marketing and the Asian business environment.
