    James Johannes

    Associate Dean of Executive Education


    James M. Johannes is currently Associate Dean of Executive Education, Aschenbrener Chair of Banking, and Director of the Puelicher Center for Banking Education in the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Previously he held positions as the Senior Associate Dean of Administration, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Administration and the Chairman of the Department of Finance, Investment and Banking in the Wisconsin School of Business from 1986-1996.  He taught economics at Michigan State University from 1976 to 1983, and has published a book on control of the money supply, a strategic planning manual for Credit Unions, and numerous articles on monetary policy and banking.  In addition to his teaching duties in the areas of banking and financial institutions at UW, he was a member of the Economic Forecast Advisory Council, State of Wisconsin, Department of Revenue and has been, a faculty representative on the Athletic Board, Chair of the Athletic Board Finance Committee, Chair of the State of Wisconsin Department of Financial Institution’s Committee to rewrite the Wisconsin Consumer Act, and a member of the Governor’s Commission on UW System Compensation.  He has also served as a faculty member in the Prochnow Graduate School of Banking, the ABA School of Real Estate Finance, the CUNA Management School, and the Mortgage Bankers Association School of Mortgage Banking.  Johannes is a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Wisconsin Credit Union , FPC Financial Bank (Madison, WI) and FPC Receivables (Reno, NV).  He served as Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Board of the UW Credit Union from 1990-1993.  He currently chairs the Asset-Liability Committee at the UW Credit Union, is a Director of the Prochnow Educational Foundation and Treasurer, United States Marine Corps Raider Association.  Born and raised in Milwaukee, he received his B.A. (1972), M.S. (1975) and Ph.D. (1978) degrees in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
