    John Nevin


    John R. Nevin is the Grainger Wisconsin Distinguished Professor and director of the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management at the Wisconsin School of Business.  

     The Grainger Center approaches supply chain management as a cross-functional value chain management activity dealing with the total flow of products, services, and information from suppliers to end users. It offers both an MBA degree and an undergraduate specialization in supply chain management. 

    Nevin’s primary teaching interests include the areas of channels of distribution, supply chain management, strategic marketing management, and marketing and the law. He has been active in executive development programs and serving as a research consultant or expert witness for such organizations as American Honda Motors, Ameritech, the Federal Trade Commission, General Motors Corporation, J. I. Case, Harley-Davidson, National Semiconductor, Procter & Gamble, Toyota Motor Sales, and Western Building Products, among others. His research has primarily been concentrated in three areas of marketing: channels of distribution, legal aspects of marketing and distribution, and international marketing.

    Nevin’s publications have appeared in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Marketing and Public Policy, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Marketing Channels, Law and Society Review, and Journal of Business Venturing, among others. He also has served on many editorial boards including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Channels, Journal of International Marketing, and Journal of Retailing. He currently serves as chair of the Channels and Distribution Management Special Interest Group of the American Marketing Association.

    Nevin received his Ph.D. in marketing in 1972 from the University of Illinois. Prior to receiving the Ph.D., he received a Master of Science degree in marketing in 1968 from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing in 1965 from Southern Illinois University.
