Developing and Managing High Performance Transporation and Logistics Contracts
Edward Marien
Ed Marien is professor emeritus of the transportation and logistics program for the Executive Education department within the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW). He holds degrees from Indiana University (MBA) and Michigan State University (Ph.D., Marketing and Logistics).
His present instructional activities at the UW include a wide offering of non-credit, continuing educational courses for industry practitioners from manufacturers, distributors, retailers, carriers and third-party service providers in consumer and industrial market segments.
Ed has been employed directly in industry and consults extensively with industry professionals. He has consulted with organizations on supply chain/logistics/transportation, economics and business planning. He has assisted information technology firms in strategic planning and concept implementation. He has also assisted suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and carriers in negotiations, in operations improvement tactics, and in implementing supply chain management initiatives. He emphasizes the use of process improvement models along with practical tips and techniques for clients to build trading partner relationships.
Wade W. Zernicke
Wade Zernicke is general manager of North American operations at Schneider Logistics, Inc., where he has worked for over 10 years. He is a member of SLI Supply Chain Management, responsible for planning, integrating and executing process improvements resulting in reduced order-to-fulfillment times, reduced total costs to serve, optimized inventory levels throughout the supply chain, and improved velocity measurements. Wade has a broad range of logistics and transportation experience, including customer service and operations implementation and management, financial analysis and logistics engineering.
David A. Durtsche
David A. Durtsche is a senior executive with Tranzact Technologies, which specializes in organizational supply chain strategy and performance needs. Dave has extensive experience across several industries in designing and implementing high-performance processes and systems. He has had the opportunity to help numerous multi-billion dollar firms increase profit and market share.
Daniel C. Sullivan
Dan Sullivan is an attorney and partner with the law offices of Sullivan, Hincks & Conway in Oak Brook, IL. A popular speaker for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Executive Education, he is a straight-talking attorney who tells law like it is in layperson’s terms. Dan has represented shippers and carriers for over 25 years and has direct experience in today’s transportation. Dan has established legal pricing systems and directly negotiated contracts with railroads, motor carriers and shippers in providing rail, intermodal and related truck services. He points out the kind of transportation and business law that firms need to know today to be “legal.”
The University of Wisconsin–Madison, as a member of the University Continuing Education Association (UCEA), authorizes this course for 2.1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 21 hours.
