Affinity Groups

The UW FBC is excited to provide you with an opportunity to join one of our Affinity Groups:

CEO Group

This group is for those individuals who are running the family-owned business. While the title of the individual is not important, he/she must be clearly in charge of the operations of the company.

Sons and Daughters of Bosses

This group is for those individuals whose parents are still considered the company head. These individuals are in a position of (future) leadership within the family-owned business.

Key Non-Family Leaders

These individuals are in a top management position (CEO, CFO, COO, HR Manager, Line Manager, General Manager, etc.), and work within a family-owned company, but are not a family member. These individuals encounter unique dynamics working within a family-owned business.

Groups of 8-12 members meet once per month, for three hours, September through May. FBC Director Deb Houden will facilitate. Benefits include:

  • Peer Support
  • A confidential forum for delicate issues
  • Relationship building
  • In-depth discussions of critical issues
  • Personal growth
  • Accountability

The cost is $1,500 per person for current members and $2,500 per person for past and non members and will start in September. To register please click above on the name of the Affinity Group you are interested in joining or please contact FBC Outreach Administrator Nick Pasquarello at npasquarello@bus.wisc.edu or 608-441-7347

"Dedicating time to spend with this non-competitive, highly interactive Pilot Study group was an excellent use of a most precious resource: my time. It afforded the means to draw on the experience and knowledge of other CEO's/business owners. Overall, it was content-rich with the content being topics, issues and concerns that the CEO group felt were important as opposed to a structured outline by someone else. In addition to discovering more about the businesses and business owners in our community and as members of the UW-Family Business Center, my personal goal by participating with this Pilot Group was to continue to increase my professional competency and gain more comprehensive business knowledge. I highly encourage others to join in the new affinity peer groups!"
