Dane County is the richest agricultural county in Wisconsin producing $288,000,000 in product value annually. Agricultural innovation, bio-tech, energy, regional food commerce and new technologies are creating opportunities to significantly expand the agricultural economy. At the same time, Dane County faces the most significant growth pressure of any county in the state.

Presenter Bios
Kathleen Falk – elected in 1997, Kathleen Falk is Dane County’s first women County Executive. Ms. Falk, an attorney, was a candidate for Governor in the Democratic primary in 2002, the first major party woman candidate for Governor in Wisconsin history. County Executive Falk says she loves balancing budgets and crafting innovative ways to make government more efficient for taxpayers. She has consistently earned Dane County the top AAA bond rating for management of the county's $460 million annual budget.
Molly Jahn - 12th dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With more than 2300 students, the college is home to 19 academic departments in agriculture, life sciences, social sciences and natural resources. The college addresses issues of food, health, energy and the environment through teaching, research and outreach. Prior to accepting the deanship at UW, Molly was a professor in the departments of Plant Breeding & Genetics and Plant Biology at Cornell University. She holds degrees from Swarthmore College, MIT and Cornell University.
